military wives club

two of my sorority sisters came over on monday

one of them, erin, i actually didn't really know (she joined the semester after i went alum) and the other was my good friend michelle

these two alpha chis are also military wives.  both of their husbands are in the army.

it was so great to get together with these lovely women and talk about everything we're going through and about to go through. we're all at different stages of this journey.

and michelle is at the beginning of a long deployment

we live in different places, have different circumstances, and our husbands are all doing different things

but we are all without them and we miss them

it has been so amazing to find so many women in this situation in my real life as well as through blogging, facebook, and twitter

it really is true that only another military wife can know what you're going through

i am so thankful for all of these friendships i have made as well as all of the sorority sisters i have (even those i have yet to meet) it is so great to have a common bond (whether military, sorority or both) to bring so many different people together

thrifty goodness

so a couple weeks ago my little sis and i decided to do some thrifting so we hit up the goodwill by her place

she found a super cute jcrew top and a yoga mat (it was in the new stuff section)

and i got these lovely goodies:

an adorable sewing basket (i have been looking for an affordable one of these at antique stores forever!) some super cute vintage shoes that ill have to wear to church soon and this vintage little lamby hanger that will hang in my childrens room someday

now dont get me wrong i find some great stuff at the goodwill but i usually dont find anything of this level of vintage awesomeness...especially all in one trip

we ended the night with chevys happy hour

so all in all a pretty successful evening

this is my big sis megan

i got to know megan because she was our new member "mom" basically, she taught us everything we needed to know about sorority

plus one of her friends was in the same fraternity as my cousin and we both went to their football game and were the only axos there so we bonded

i was so excited she was my big and as we got to know each other better we found out we had so much in common! its crazy!

now shes a flight attendant and lives in denver so i miss her a ton! she almost didnt make it back for the wedding and i was so sad but i guess she loves me a whole bunch because she took some really awful shifts to get that day off!

oh! and she got me my job

This is my second little sis chelsea

so i didnt actually want another little sis because i had such a good one, but since there were almost as many new members as there were girls already in the chapter and i was the person in charge of matching the bigs and lils so i met a bunch of the girls and tried to find one that would be a good fit

since there were so many girls i didnt meet chelsea right away, and i wasnt sure if she would put me on her list because we had only talked about 3 times before we did the choosing

but luckily she did because i knew right away that she was the perfect 2nd little for me!

even though shes a lot younger (she was a newbie freshman and i was a 2nd year senior) we are so similar and have so much in common! i love her to pieces!

and now shes dating a navy boy so now we have more in common!

wedding: bridesmaids pt1

so i decided to do a post about each of my bridesmaids and include some of my favorite pictures of the two of us :)

(and yes i did go crazy on facebook to get these :)

my bridesmaids consisted of my sorority big sis and 2 little sis' as well as my real life little sister

I'm going to start with my first little sis becca!

i met becca in january 2009 at a recruitment event and knew from the moment i met her that i wanted her to be my little sis!

we were basically inseparable her first semester and were voted best big and little, which is "a perfect match, a one of a kind pair" and that exactly what we are! she is one of my best friends that i know will always be a part of my life and im sure shell be auntie becca to my children someday :)
