for the love of martha?

every now and then we get an extra channel that will be availabel for a while then go away...right now its my current fav, the style network (though it was much better circa 2004-2006)

anyway, we had the fine living network for a while where i discovered my new favorite show...

...Whatever, Martha?!!!!!

it is probably the funniest show i have ever seen! if you havent seen it you should really check it out (there are a couple segments on youtube)
My mother, sister, and i looked forward to it every week! and when they had to tape it for me cause i had class we would watch the tape over and over because it was so funny!

if you dont know the concept of the show basically martha's daughter and friend watch segments of martha stewart living and comment about every thing from what martha is wearing to what they presume her to be thinking and much more...it's hysterical i swear!

one episode they watched a segment of martha making a caesar salad...it looked delicious so baby sis and i gave it a try one night
i found the recipe online and it was quite delicious... the only thing we didnt do was make our own croutons, we were going to but we were too hungry to wait so we bought some fresh made at whole foods and figured it was close enough

when boredom ensues

i was bored one night while my mom was working on a project for my sister's girl scout troop and i started playing with her pipe cleaners and this is what i made:
a pair of totally harry potter type glasses...baby sis and i thought that bentley looked like bentley potter, or harry bentley (we couldn't decide which one) ...we are obviously harry potter nerds (just a little right?)
baby sis even wore them to school all the next day and had friends requesting some in various colors but in the words of baby sis, "ok...one, we only have green and two, my sister is not going to make you any"  haha, she has some attitude

who do i look like?

everyone always has those one or two famous people that they have been told they look like
when i was little i was told i looked like Drew Barrymore in ET...i dont see it really
when i was in Jr. High the charles angels movies were popular and i got told again by different people that i looked like Drew...my mom thought it was just the way i did my hair (i couldnt find one where she had those loose curls she wore at the time of one of the movies) but i figured if it wasnt just one when i was little with blond hair, maybe it was true?
and then when i was searching for these pictures i found this one of Drew and somewhere i have a picture of me from this kid id thing and i look exactly like this...ok maybe not exactly...but pretty similar
a photography friend of mine was doing a project on old movie stars last year and our professor was great at decided what old movie stars people in the class looked like.  seriously she was really good. she would look at you for like 2 seconds and then say a name and when we looked it up on line you could totally see it.  anyway she said i looked like Sandra Dee.  we seriously have the exact same face shape.  and there are other pictures where she looks more like me, but this is my favorite of her
But my friend really wanted to use me for Kim Novak in vertigo and she thought i looked pretty close to her too

and here's the picture! it looks a little weird on here...it is much better in print! we also had to darken my eyebrows and lighten my face to look more like her, but i think it worked pretty well (though i did need to get my roots touched up!)

vintage globes, olympians, and mermaids, oh my!

i saw this post and knew i had to get a vintage globe the next time i saw one...and on saturday when when i was at the swap meet (at 7am...but thats another story) i saw this wonderful gem!  The guy wanted $10 for it but i only had $6 and he took it and now its mine!
Its going to look so great on my desk when its finished! Just look at the detail on the metal! lovely! and its already come in handy...the day i got it some olympian from tunisia won a gold medal and i whipped out my globe so my sister could see where that was
And speaking of olympians, lets talk about Michael Phelphs, who is pretty much the only reason i watch swimming...hes just amazing! and so cute!
And EIGHT gold medals in a single olympics, beating out Mark Spitz (who, by the way, trained at the country club that we would have our end of the year swim parties at in elementary school) AMAZING!
And i cant talk about the olympics without talking about gymnastics, which has to be my favorite olympic sport by far!  Ever since i was 9 and watched the US women win the gold i was hooked...i totally wanted to be Dominique Moceanu!
And the outfits this year were so cute! Those girls totally have on the right color for there skin-tone (though the pink wasnt as peptobismally on my tv screen)
And why do i leave you with mermaids?  Not because i absolutly LOVE this Disney starts series, not because this picture was taken by Annie Leibovitz who i totally want to be, and not because i have some weird fascination with mermaids...no its because that merman upfront is Michael Phelps! so cool!
